Destination Schuylkill River partnered with the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary to install a rain garden at the Lankenau School in Philadelphia. The rain garden was installed on May 21st, 2012. Destination Schuylkill River is creating a written master plan for the garden and working with involved teachers at the school to learn how to ID weeds to insure long term care for the project. In the fall of 2012, the project was augmented with some new plants to replace the ones that did not survive the summer. The school also purchases their curriculum support resources to help utilize the rain garden as a teaching tool in the future. Through this project, 1 tree and 819 plants/shrubs were planted.
